2022 Kia Seltos Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Casitas Springs, I got a call on a weeknight from a woman whose 2022 Seltos had basically gone silent on her.
The fob stopped responding, the push button wasn't recognizing anything, and she was locked out in the parking area next to her place. She'd already done the YouTube fix, held the fob up to the start button, pressed with the fob touching the button face. It worked once, then stopped.
That one-time trick told me something. The battery wasn't completely dead, but it was low enough that the fob's signal was too weak to be picked up reliably at normal range. She'd been squeezing the last of it for probably a week without realizing it.
I got there, swapped the CR2032 on the tailgate of my van, reseated the contact, and handed it back. Fob woke right up. She clicked lock and unlock twice just to feel it working again.
But I stayed. With a 2022, I always walk all the buttons and check that the vehicle is reading the fob correctly at normal pocket range before I call it done. Everything checked out. No programming needed because the fob was already enrolled, just starved for power.
She mentioned the dealer was a 45-minute drive and she would have needed a tow since the car wasn't starting. That detour never happened. Job was done right there in Casitas Springs, same night she called, for a fraction of what towing and a dealer visit would have run her.
