2024 Kia Seltos
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2024 Kia Seltos Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked on a street just off Thille in Ventura when I got the call. A retired mail carrier needed a spare key for his 2024 Kia Seltos and had already been to the dealer. He was not locked out, nothing was broken. He just wanted a second key in the house, the way any sensible person thinks about it before the first one goes missing.

The dealer had quoted him a number that made him sit on it for two weeks. His neighbor had used me before and passed along my contact.

I pulled up, and he was standing in the driveway next to the Seltos with his original fob in hand, a little skeptical that a van in his driveway could do what a dealership service bay promised to do. I did not try to talk him into anything. I just started the job.

The 2024 Seltos smart key system requires going through the OBD port with the right diagnostic software to read the vehicle's security PIN and register new fobs. No shortcuts, no ignition cycling sequence, no guessing. The tool reads the PIN, the new key gets enrolled, and you test every function before you pack up. Lock, unlock, all five buttons, and then start the car and confirm the immobilizer accepted it.

The whole job ran about 35 minutes. He tested the new fob himself before I closed the case. Walked back inside and put the spare on a hook by the door, which is exactly where a spare should live.

He mentioned the dealer quote on the way out. I told him what I charge and let that stand on its own. He said he wished he had called two weeks earlier.
