2003 Lincoln Aviator Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a woman staying at a spot over on Milpas Street in Santa Barbara. She was a traveling consultant, in town for a few days, and her only 2003 Lincoln Aviator key just stopped turning the ignition. Blade was worn down enough that the wafers weren't reading it right anymore.
She had already called the Lincoln dealer. They told her to tow it in, earliest appointment was late the next day. She was supposed to be at a meeting the next morning.
I drove out that same evening. Parked behind her Aviator, pulled the door lock cylinder to get a clean read on the wafer depths, and cut a fresh H75 blade on the HPC Blitz in my van. The original key's transponder chip was still good, so I decoded and cloned the 4D/63 chip onto a new CWTWB1U551 remote head key blank.
Then connected through the OBD-II port, ran PATS security access on my Autel IM608, waited through the ten-minute timed security countdown that Ford bakes into the module, and registered the new key to her PCM. Tested all four buttons, cycled the ignition three times, confirmed the theft light on the dash went solid then off.
She was standing there watching the whole thing, holding her old worn-out key like she wasn't ready to let go of it yet. I get that. It's the key you trust.
Whole thing took about 35 minutes. She made her morning meeting.
