Got a call from a guy over near the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall who had just bought a used 2007 Solstice from one of the lots. Two-seat roadster, manual trans, the GXP turbo trim. Nice car. One problem: the dealer gave him one key and told him a spare would be "a few hundred" at the Pontiac, well, now GM dealer.
He was sitting in the lot staring at this single key like it owed him money.
I pulled up, set the kit on the passenger seat since the Solstice has roughly the trunk space of a shoebox, and got to work. Cut a fresh B107 blade on the Strattec 5912545 blank, then plugged into the DLC port under the dash. The PK3+ system on these Kappas runs its 10-minute security relearn cycle, so there is a stretch where you are both just standing there watching the security light on the cluster do its thing. He used the time to show me the tiny trunk. Genuinely proud of it.
Once the timer cleared, the new transponder registered clean. Tested the start, tested the KOBGT04A remote buttons, lock, unlock, trunk release. Everything hit. He clicked both keys back to back just to compare the feel.
Whole job took about 30 minutes including that forced wait. He drove off with two working keys for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him.
