2007 Pontiac Vibe Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Saticoy, I got a call about a 2007 Pontiac Vibe with a fob that had stopped locking the doors. The owner figured it was just the battery and had already swapped in a fresh CR2032 herself. Still nothing.
When I pulled up, she handed me the fob and I popped it open right there on the hood of her car. The new battery was in correctly. But the positive contact tab was nearly flat, barely touching the cell. It is a slow thing that happens over years of prying the case open, and most people do not notice it because the battery looks like it is seated fine.
Bent the tab back, reseated the battery, closed it up, and tested range. Still a little short. That told me the fob itself had some age on it and the signal was marginal even with good contact.
I programmed a fresh replacement fob on site through the OBD port. Three buttons, CR2032 installed, tested lock, unlock, and the third button at distance. Walked around the car, tested both doors, confirmed the ignition key blade operated the cylinder. She watched the whole thing from her front steps.
She had already called the dealer earlier that week. They wanted her to leave the car and come back the next day. She saved a good chunk and did not have to go anywhere.
