Got a call from over in the Midtown neighborhood in Ventura. Guy was loading his 2019 Ascent for a trip to the dog boarding place and the push-button start just sat there dead. Dash showed nothing. He held the fob against the start button like the manual says for a dead battery, and the engine turned over fine. So he figured it was just the CR2032.

Cleaned the pad, confirmed continuity, and seated a new CR2032.
Then the real test: walked every door handle for touch lock and unlock, tested all four buttons including the power liftgate, ran three cold starts from outside the vehicle, and checked range from about 25 feet out.
