Over by the Santa Susana Depot Museum in Simi Valley, a woman walked out of the little park area to her 2010 CC Luxury and the push button did nothing. Dashboard just sat there with "Immobilizer Active" on the cluster. She held the fob against the steering column, which is the emergency backup VW tells you about in the manual. Still nothing.
She called a dealer in the Valley. They told her tow it in, leave it two to three days, and they would order a new proximity fob. That was not going to work.
I got there in about 35 minutes. Plugged my Autel IM608 into the OBD-II port and pulled the immobilizer module, which on the PQ46 is integrated into the instrument cluster (part number starting with 3C8 920). The Megamos ID48 CAN chip inside her old fob was not handshaking at all. Dead transponder, not a dead battery. The CR2032 was actually fine.
I cut the HU66 emergency blade on a fresh 5K0837202AK shell, loaded a new ID48 CAN chip, and ran the fifth-gen immobilizer login through the gateway module. Security access on these takes a PIN pull from the cluster, then a timed seed-key exchange. Not instant, but not long.
Tested Kessy proximity unlock on both front doors, push-button start, remote lock, unlock, panic, and trunk release. Everything responded clean.
She was back on her way in about 40 minutes. The dealer route would have burned half a week and cost way more than what she paid me on the spot.
