2012 Volkswagen Tiguan Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A grad student in the Sterling Hills area called me on a Tuesday morning, standing in his apartment parking lot with one original key and a tight schedule.
He had a 2012 Tiguan and wanted a spare made before that lone key wore out or disappeared. Smart move. He'd already called the VW dealer and gotten a quote that made him pause, plus they told him to bring the car in and schedule an appointment. On a graduate stipend, blocking out half a day for that wasn't realistic.
I met him in the lot before his first class.
The first thing I did was decode his door lock cylinder right there at the car, reading the wafer positions so I could cut a blade that matched exactly. Then I cut the replacement flip key and moved to the OBD port for the transponder adaptation and remote pairing. The whole process ran about 25 to 30 minutes. I walked him through each step while it was happening because he was curious, which I always appreciate.
When it was done, I tested both keys. Both started the car. Both locked and unlocked from across the lot.
He made it to his lecture. The dealer quote was a distant afterthought by that point.
