Got a call from a driver pulled over near Constitution Park in Camarillo. His 2006 Volvo V70, the P2-generation wagon, had a key that was about to ruin his afternoon. The emergency blade on his LQNP2T-APU fob had gone stiff in the door lock and nearly snapped off inside the cylinder.
He told me the blade had basically never been used. Years of sitting folded inside the fob while the remote did all the work. The HU101 cylinder was dry and gritty from coastal air and zero maintenance.
Another locksmith quoted him over the phone for a full cylinder replacement. That felt wrong to him, so he kept calling around.
I used an HU101 Lishi tool to work the cylinder without forcing anything. Read the wafers, decoded the cuts, and got the stuck blade fragment out clean. No drilling. No damage to the housing or the wafer stack. Then I cut a fresh blade to the decoded depths and programmed the ID48 transponder chip through the OBD-II port using Volvo-compatible diagnostic software to sync with the CEM.
The new blade turned smooth after I lubricated the wafers with a dry graphite lube. I tested the remote lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and fold functions on all five buttons. Everything responded.
His lock cylinder stayed original. His V70 looked the same as when I pulled up. The whole thing cost him a fraction of what that other shop wanted for parts and labor on a replacement cylinder he never needed.
