A guy called me just before 7am from a job site off a side street near Libby Lake in Oceanside. Construction crew, shift starting at 7, Explorer dead in the dirt lot. The push-button hadn't responded since he got there. But I didn't stop there. I plugged into the OBD port and pulled the module data anyway, because a contact issue that bad sometimes masks a secondary fault that'll surface a week later. Everything came back clean. No stored codes, no failed start counters.

He clocked in late but not by much. The whole hands-on time was under 25 minutes. He mentioned the dealer quote he'd already gotten on his phone while waiting for me. I won't repeat the number but he said he saved a good chunk, and that's without counting the tow he would have needed to get it there.
