2003 Infiniti QX4
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2003 Infiniti QX4 Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was out on Beyer Blvd in the QX4 corridor area of San Ysidro when this one came in. Owner had a 2003 QX4, one key left, and it was getting worn down to the point where he was wiggling it in the ignition to get a clean start. He wanted a spare before the original gave out entirely.

He'd already called the dealer. They quoted him a wait time and a price that made him pause long enough to look for another option. That's when he found me.

I cut a replacement key blade to his vehicle on site. The transponder chip in the new key head is what the immobilizer is looking for, and with his one working key still in hand, I ran the relearn sequence without needing to pull codes or plug into the OBD port. The car accepted the new key. He tested it himself, turn by turn, a few times in a row until it felt normal.

Then I addressed the worn original. The blade had enough left to decode from, so I made sure the new cut was true to spec and handed him both back. He now has a real spare, not a drawer key he's afraid to trust.

The dealer comparison came up once, briefly. He just nodded and moved on. That was the whole conversation about it.
