I was already working in Escondido on a Friday when a second call came in from San Pasqual Valley. A couple had driven out to the area for the evening and come back to a fob that was completely unresponsive. The Sorento was sitting in the lot, dark, not reacting to anything they pressed.

Fresh CR2450, verified the battery was seated correctly, and ran through every function before I handed it back. Lock, unlock, all seven buttons, confirmed the handles were waking up at the right distance. Done on site.
They drove home that same night. The dealer could not have touched it until the following week, and the quote they had already started mentally preparing for was a lot heavier than what they paid me. When the right parts are already in the van, a weekend call in San Pasqual Valley is not a big deal.
