When a 2026 Kia Sorento key is done wrong, it doesn't "kind of work." It fails. The remote might lock and unlock perfectly while the dash still says "key not detected" and refuses to start. His fob, FCC ID TQ8-FOB-4F61M44, also had a weak CR2450 battery making detection worse.
The replacement has been working for months and cost him $274. Dealer would have charged $478. The difference is the chip inside.
