2011 Nissan Sentra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a parking area just off the beach access near Moonlight Beach in Encinitas where people leave their cars for hours. A guy had walked down to the water, come back to his 2011 Sentra, and the fob just stopped talking to the car. No response from the door handles, no start, nothing. He'd been using the same fob for three years since buying the car used. It had one key when he got it.
He called me from the parking lot. Told me the fob was completely dead. I asked if the car would still start if he held the fob right up against the push-button. He tried it. It cranked. That told me what I needed to know before I even drove out there.
When I got there he already had the fob in two pieces, which was fine. The CR2032 inside was original, still showing some voltage on a meter but not enough for reliable communication at normal distance. The contact plates had a thin film on them that you only see when you're actually looking.
Cleaned the contacts, seated a fresh CR2032, and the fob came back fully. Tested all four buttons, tested the door handle approach, tested the start. Everything worked.
He had also mentioned the lot gave him a single key when he bought it. So while I was already there, we added a second Intelligent Key to the vehicle right there in the parking lot. He left with two working fobs. The dealer had quoted him a substantial wait plus a number that made him pause. He paid a fraction of that and didn't move the car once.
