A guy in Downtown Ramona called me on a Tuesday. He had a 2001 Sequoia sitting in his driveway, one key, and that key had snapped at the base of the blade where it meets the bow. The metal part was still in the ignition. Not a great situation.

I extracted the broken blade without pulling the cylinder, which is the part most people don't realize is even possible. Once the barrel was clear, I decoded the lock to cut a new key blade matched to his vehicle. Then came the part that matters with these: the replacement key needed the transponder chip programmed to the immobilizer before the engine would run. The Sequoia cranks fine with an unprogrammed key. It just stalls immediately. He had tried to start it with a spare he found in a drawer and thought the extraction had caused an electrical problem. It hadn't. That spare was never programmed.
Got both sorted on site. New key cut, chip enrolled, engine running. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait of several days just to get an appointment. He was back on the road the same afternoon for a fraction of what they wanted.
