2002 Toyota Sequoia
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2002 Toyota Sequoia Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy called from an office park in Old Poway, Poway, at about 9 at night. His only key was gone. He'd checked his pockets, retraced his steps through the building, walked the parking lot twice. Nothing. He wasn't sure if he needed a tow or a locksmith and was close to just calling both.

First thing I asked him for was the VIN. He didn't know where it was. I told him: base of the windshield, driver's side, look through the glass from outside. He found it in under a minute. Then I had him check his insurance app for the registration. It was all there.

With the VIN in hand before I left, I already knew what key system the 2002 Sequoia runs, had the right blank, and had my equipment ready for the transponder programming. I pulled into the lot and he was standing next to the truck under one of those tall parking lot lights, which actually made the job easier.

Cut the key blade to match his vehicle, programmed the transponder chip to his immobilizer, tested it. The truck started on the first turn. He just stood there for a second like he wasn't sure it was going to hold.

He thanked me, mentioned he'd expected to be there until midnight waiting on a tow and then dealing with a dealer in the morning. He drove home that night.

The VIN is the single most useful thing you can give me before I arrive. Text it ahead of time and the job moves faster from the first minute.
