2014 Audi A7 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Saturday afternoon in the Campus Hills area in Moorpark. A high school tennis coach had just finished up at the courts and his 2014 A7 would not respond to the fob. No comfort access on the door handles, no trunk release, nothing. He was holding the key against the steering column to get push-to-start to fire, which told me the fob was transmitting something but barely.
I popped the fob open on the hood. The CR2032 was corroded along one edge, and the contact leaf inside had a slight greenish film. Cleaned it, dropped in a fresh CR2032, and comfort access came back immediately. Range came back. But he also needed a second key because his wife's fob had been missing for a month.
That is where the real work started. I connected my VVDI2 through the OBD port and pulled the BCM2 data. On these C7 Audis with the 5th-gen immobilizer and Megamos AES encryption, key programming goes through the body control module, not the instrument cluster like older models. I used the VVDI Prog to read the BCM2 EEPROM, generated the new key data, and wrote the IYZFBSB802 smart fob with all four buttons.
Then testing. Every button from 30 feet away. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Comfort access on both front handles. Three cold starts in a row with no hesitation and no dash warnings. He stood there watching the third start like he was waiting for something to go wrong. Nothing did.
He thought getting a second key meant towing to the dealer and leaving the car for a day. Instead it was done in the parking lot during the time it took his kid to finish a practice set.
