2015 Audi A7 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near Moorpark College, I got a call from a woman who works overnight hospital shifts. She was in the parking structure, it was late, and she wanted a spare key made for her 2015 Audi A7. Before she even told me the car details, she asked me to read her my BSIS license number over the phone.
That is not a strange request. That is a smart one. She works alone in a dim garage late at night. She said she looks up every contractor before letting them near anything she owns. I gave her the number, she pulled it on her phone, and by the time I pulled in she had already verified it was active and current.
The job itself was the programming side of adding a second fob. The A7 at this generation needs proper diagnostic access to register a new key to the immobilizer. There is no ignition-turn sequence, no shortcut. I connected through the OBD port, worked through the security authorization, and registered the new fob. Cut the emergency blade to match the car. Walked her through the backup start location on the steering column in case the fob battery ever dies mid-shift, because knowing that trick at 2 a.m. in a parking garage is actually useful.
She watched the whole thing. Asked good questions. The dealer had quoted her a wait of several days plus a service appointment just to get it scheduled. We were done in under an hour, in the lot, that night.
I think about that job when people ask why credentials matter. She already knew the answer.
