A customer in Carpinteria had just bought a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox from a small lot. Great truck, one key. The lot said to get a spare on his own. He figured fifty bucks at the hardware store. That's not how Chevy truck keys work anymore.

I met him at the lot and used my VVDI2 to read the ID46 chip data from his working key and clone it onto a fresh blank so the truck's immobilizer accepted it without a full security reset. His smart key, FCC ID OHT01060512, had 5 buttons including remote start. I cut the blade, cloned the chip, and synced the remote functions on-site.
He drove off the lot with two working keys for less than the dealer wanted for one. That second key also means his next replacement is an add-a-key job instead of all-keys-lost, which saves even more down the line.
