Out in Oak View, just off Creek Road, I got a call from a guy whose 2022 Equinox was sitting in his driveway not cooperating. He had one fob, it was the original, and he said it had been "weird for weeks." Push-button start was hesitating. The cell was seated right, the contacts looked okay on the surface, but when I checked the board connection it was slightly off register - not obvious until you're actually looking for it. Reseated everything properly, cleaned the contacts, and retested. Still not pairing clean.

I had the right replacement fob with me, pulled his VIN, confirmed the factory FCC ID matched what I was holding, and got to work at the OBD port. Registered the new fob to the car, verified the old one was wiped from the system, and walked every function. Door handle passive unlock on both sides, push-button start, lock, unlock, and all five buttons.
He'd already called the dealer before me. They told him to bring the car in, quoted him parts and labor separately, and the earliest available appointment was four days out. He would have needed a tow since the car wasn't starting. I was done before he finished his coffee.
