2017 Chevrolet Equinox Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman near Carpinteria Creek Park in Carpinteria called about her 2017 Equinox. Her flip key shell had split right at the hinge, the B106 blade wobbling around like a loose tooth. She had already called the dealer. They quoted her for a full replacement, cut and programmed, and told her to bring the car in.
What they skipped over: her transponder chip and circuit board were fine. The PCF7941E board inside the OHT01060512 housing was working perfectly. The CR2032 had plenty of life. Lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, all five buttons responding. The only broken thing was the plastic shell, which is a known weak point on these Chevy flip keys.
I met her at her place, brought a replacement aftermarket shell and my B106 Lishi to verify her blade cuts before doing anything. Popped the old housing apart, transferred the board and chip into the fresh shell, cut a new blade to match the original, and snapped it all together.
Tested every button. Tested the blade in the ignition and the driver door lock cylinder. Tested the transponder handshake on start. Everything clean.
She kept looking at the old cracked shell sitting on the hood like she expected me to need it for something else. Nope. That was the whole job. A fraction of what the dealer wanted, done in her driveway in about twenty minutes.
