2025 Chevrolet Equinox
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2025 Chevrolet Equinox Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked on Telephone Road finishing up a call when the next one came in. A guy over in the College area of Ventura, near the community college, couldn't get his 2025 Equinox to acknowledge the fob at all.

Car wouldn't unlock from the handle, wouldn't recognize the key when he sat down. He'd already tried holding the fob right up to the start button, which sometimes works when the battery is nearly dead. Nothing.

When I pulled up, he met me at the curb with the fob in his hand like he was handing over evidence. He'd had the car less than a year. Didn't think he needed a spare yet.

I popped the fob open and checked the CR2450 first. Original factory cell, and the voltage had dropped enough that the fob was barely transmitting. Swapped the battery, reseated everything, and the car woke right up. Doors unlocked from the handle, dash was clean, no warnings.

But he still didn't have a spare, and that's what he actually called about. So we did the second key while I was already there. Programmed it to the vehicle at the curb, confirmed both fobs were working, walked him through the physical blade release on the new one.

He mentioned he'd called the dealer first. They told him to bring it in, which meant rearranging his whole afternoon and paying for the privilege. He'd called me instead and handled the whole thing on his lunch break. That part he seemed pretty satisfied about.
