2007 Chevrolet Equinox Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call just before six in the morning from a guy in San Roque. He was heading to a job site in Santa Barbara when his key snapped.

Not the tip, not the bow, but right where the blade meets the base, the part still sitting in the ignition cylinder. His shift started at six. He wasn't asking about options. He was asking how fast I could be there.

I keep the van stocked and I was already up. I was at his location in about twenty minutes. The blade had sheared clean and the stub was just deep enough in the cylinder to be annoying. I pulled it out with the right extraction tool, decoded the lock while I was in there, and cut a new key on site.

Then came the part that actually takes a minute: pairing the transponder. The security light told the whole story. Once the relearn finished and the engine turned over clean, I cut him a second key on the spot and told him to keep it somewhere other than his key ring.

He made it to the job site. Not with seconds to spare, but he made it. He texted me later that afternoon. No big speech, just thanks. That kind of call, where the timing is tight and you either come through or you don't, that's the one I think about when someone asks why I run early hours.
