A commuter pulled over on the freeway shoulder in Camarillo had his key snap inside the ignition of his 2022 Honda Civic. The blade broke clean in half. He called another locksmith first, and that locksmith told him the ignition cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced. That would have meant new keys, a new cylinder, and a bill pushing $500. He called me for a second opinion.
I used my HO01 Lishi to extract the broken blade fragment from the ignition without scratching the wafer surfaces inside. Once it was out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position, which gave me the exact cut depths for a new key without needing the original. His car used a separate remote fob, FCC ID KR5TP-4, and a standalone transponder key. I cut the new blade from the decode and programmed the transponder chip through OBD.
No drilling and no cylinder replacement. His total was 254. The other locksmith's plan would have been 453 or more with a new cylinder and keys. His original lock works with the new key exactly like it worked with the old one.
