Got a call from a guy out at Rincon Beach Park in Ventura. His 2012 CLS550 had one working key left, and the chrome side was peeling off the fob housing so bad that the panic button was exposed to the elements. He said the lock button had stopped responding about a month ago and the range on the unlock was maybe three feet on a good day.

I pulled up, set up on the hood, and popped his old key open first. The CR2025 inside was original, date code matching 2012. Dead enough to explain the short range and the non-responsive lock button. Fresh battery brought the remote back to life on the spot.
Then I cut the new spare on my Triton machine, HU64 profile, matched to factory bitting. Hooked into the OBD port, connected to the EIS/EZS, wrote the transponder, and registered it. Tested both keys through every function: remote lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and engine start.
He sat in the driver's seat, clicked the new key a few times like he was making sure it was real, and said, "That's it?" That was it. One visit, both keys working, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him.
