Assuming you get the right fob, programming still requires professional equipment that supports this generation of Volvo security. There's no DIY sequence, no ignition-turn trick, no button combination that adds a new key on this car. You need the right diagnostic hardware and the software coverage for this platform and year.

So buying the fob online can save something on parts cost, but you're still calling someone like me to finish the job. If you want to go that route, I'd suggest confirming the correct part before you order rather than after.
