I was in the College neighborhood of Ventura when I got a call about a 2008 Volvo V50. The owner had two fobs and one had stopped working. Not dead, just inconsistent. Sometimes it would lock the car from twenty feet. Other times he'd be standing right next to the door clicking and nothing. He figured it was the battery.

I checked the fob and the battery read fine. The issue was the fob had dropped at some point, and one of the internal contacts had shifted just enough to cause intermittent signal drop.
