2010 Acura MDX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2010 Acura MDX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in Ocean View Hills, a woman flagged me down from her driveway before I even finished parking. She'd already had someone out, a generic locksmith who cut the blade fine but handed her a key that worked the locks and nothing else. Car sat there cranking and stalling. She figured she was looking at a tow and a dealer visit.

She had the original working key, which changed everything. Add-a-key on this generation MDX is a legitimate path when you have the original present, and she did. I pulled up her VIN, confirmed the key type matched what she had, and got to work with the right equipment in the van.

The blade on the new key was already cut to spec. I paired the transponder chip to her immobilizer, ran through the remote sync for all four buttons, and tested every function at both front doors and the liftgate before I put my tools away.

She turned the key, it fired right up. She said the other guy had been so confident when he left.

I told her it happens more than people think. Cutting is only the first step. Programming is the job.

The dealer was her backup plan. She'd already called and was bracing for a wait plus a price that made her wince. She said what I charged was a good chunk less and she didn't have to leave her driveway.
