2019 Acura MDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was close to 10 at night when my phone rang. A woman calling from a parking lot near Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, just off the main stretch where the lot empties out after dark.
She had worked a double shift and her only fob to her 2019 MDX was gone -- somewhere in her scrubs, somewhere in the hospital, she had no idea. Exhausted is not a strong enough word for how she sounded.
She didn't have her registration in front of her and didn't know her VIN offhand. I walked her through it on the phone. I told her to look through the windshield at the lower left corner of the glass on the driver's side. She found it. Then I had her pull up her insurance app, which had the rest of what I needed to confirm ownership before I loaded up and drove out.
By the time I got to her, I already had the right fob blank and everything I needed to run the all-keys-lost procedure. I worked at the OBD port with my diagnostic tool, let the timed sequence run, built and paired the new fob on site, and tested every function before I packed up. She watched the whole thing from about two feet away.
She drove home that night. The dealer was closed anyway, and even if they weren't, they would have needed the car towed to the service bay and scheduled in, probably the next day at the earliest. The VIN she found through the windshield glass is the single most useful thing you can give me before I head out. It tells me the key type, the programming method, and exactly what to bring.
