It was close to 10 at night when my phone rang. A woman calling from a parking lot near Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, just off the main stretch where the lot empties out after dark. She had worked a double shift and her only fob to her 2019 MDX was gone -- somewhere in her scrubs, somewhere in the hospital, she had no idea. She watched the whole thing from about two feet away.
She drove home that night. The dealer was closed anyway, and even if they weren't, they would have needed the car towed to the service bay and scheduled in, probably the next day at the earliest.
