2022 Acura MDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already working the Berry Park side of Imperial Beach on a Tuesday when a call came in from a teacher at a school nearby. She had a 2022 Acura MDX and her only fob had cracked along the seam from being dropped. The buttons were barely holding in and the proximity detection was becoming unreliable. Her words were something like, "the car knows I'm there sometimes."
The dealer had told her next available was five days out. She had a planning period and maybe forty minutes to work with.
I pulled into the school lot and she met me at her MDX. The fob shell was genuinely split. The board inside was intact, which was worth knowing. But the contacts had shifted enough that reliable communication was hit or miss depending on which way she was holding it.
I connected my scan tool to the OBD port and ran the smart key registration. The 2022 MDX keeps its key memory in the body control module and the registration process has a short timed sequence built in, so you sit with it for a few minutes. New fob enrolled, old cracked fob cleared from the system. Tested every function, walked the door handles, confirmed push-button start.
She was done before her next period. The dealer comparison was an afterthought by then. She just wanted her day back, and that is what actually happened.
