1995 Acura TL
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1995 Acura TL Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Down in the Brown Field Area, I got a call from a guy who'd been driving his 1995 Acura TL on a single worn key for longer than he wanted to admit. He bought it used, the previous owner handed him one key at the handshake, and that was that. He'd been meaning to get a spare cut for two years.

He finally called the dealer first. They told him they'd need the car brought in and quoted him a number that made him pause. He called me that same afternoon.

I met him in the parking area near the dog park, tools already out of the van before he finished telling me the story. I decoded his door lock directly, read the wafer positions, and cut a matching key blank right there on the tailgate.

He watched the whole thing. When I showed him how the wafers inside the lock correspond to the cuts on the blade, he got quiet for a second and said something like, "That's actually it? That's the whole thing?" Yeah, that's the whole thing. Key in, tumbler turns, car starts.

The whole job took maybe twenty minutes. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted and never left the parking lot. The dog sleeping in the back seat of the TL did not stir once.
