2006 Acura TL Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A man living near Bonsall called about his 2006 Acura TL on a Tuesday morning. He used a cane, did not drive often, and needed the car mainly to get to medical appointments.
His only key had become stiff in the ignition over the past few months, and that week it finally stopped turning reliably. Getting across town to an Acura dealer was not a realistic option for him. His daughter was out of state, and he had already looked into a tow.
I drove out to his building that morning. The TL was sitting in the lot, unmoved for a few days. I decoded the lock first to verify what was actually worn and what the correct cuts were, then cut a fresh key blank to match. The transponder chip in the new key got programmed through the OBD port. The whole job took about 35 minutes.
What stayed with me was how relieved he looked when the key turned clean on the first try. Not excited, just relieved - the way someone feels when a problem that had been quietly growing finally goes away. He made a comment about the dealer being on the other side of town and not being sure how he would have gotten the car there. I told him that is exactly why I work mobile.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted his daughter over the phone. More than that, he did not have to leave his building.
