I was parked near the Ferry Landing in Coronado when the call came in. A property manager had already been through it once with a locksmith she found through a cheap ad. She described the situation the way people do when they have been burned: slowly, like she was testing whether I was going to be the same story.

I used my programmer to wipe the prior registration and do a clean re-enrollment with the factory fob carrying the FCC ID printed on the back. Transponder side, remote side, all four buttons, tested one at a time at the car. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic. All working.
She paid what I quoted on the phone. That was the whole story. She did not need a new key, just the job done completely the first time.
