Out in Alpine Village, I got a call from a guy who was already frustrated before he even said hello. He'd had another locksmith out to make a key for his 2005 Cadillac CTS, paid for the work, watched the guy leave, and was still standing in his driveway with a car that wouldn't start.
The engine would crank fine. It would even catch and run for a second or two. Then it would die. Every single time. The other locksmith had told him the body control module was bad and that he needed to go to the dealer.

But I could make sure the job was actually done right this time, and I could show him the confirmation on my screen proving the key was permanently stored. He appreciated that more than anything, just being able to see it.
The dealer, by the way, was going to charge him significantly more and couldn't get him in for two days. He'd already lost a day of work over this.
