2019 Cadillac CTS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2019 Cadillac CTS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in Rancho Santa Fe Village called me on a Tuesday morning. He had just bought a 2019 Cadillac CTS through an estate sale -- clean car, low miles, obvious care taken over the years. The family sold it with one key and told him to figure out a spare on his own.

He called the dealer first. They quoted him a number that made him pause long enough to go looking for other options. That is when he found me.

I met him in the Village, right where the car was parked. He had the single working fob, proof of ownership, and a lot of skepticism that I could do this in a parking lot. Understandable. It is a Cadillac, not a Corolla.

I connected my programming equipment to the OBD port, read the vehicle security data from the existing enrolled fob, and registered a new five-button smart key to the system. Cut the emergency insert blade to match the vehicle, tested every function, and walked him through the low-battery trick with the start button while I had him right there.

The whole job was done before he finished his coffee. He left with two working keys, both enrolled, both tested, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him for one. And now if something ever goes sideways with a fob, he has a backup instead of an all-keys-lost situation -- which on a CTS is a meaningfully longer job.
