I got a call from a woman parked near the Buena Creek area of Vista, close to the Target off Hacienda Drive. She had a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic and one fob that had been getting flaky for weeks. Short range, intermittent response, and that morning it finally stopped unlocking the car altogether. She was using the physical insert key to get in and out, clicking the fob out of habit each time.

I straightened it, reseated the battery, and the fob came back fully. Lock, unlock, remote functions, all responsive.
Then I ran a quick check through the OBD port to confirm the fob was properly paired and the vehicle security system was reading it clean. No stored faults, no relearn needed. The fob was never really dead. It just had a mechanical issue inside the housing that a dealer parts counter would have skipped right past.
She was back in her car before her lunch break ended. The dealer's week-long wait and parts order never happened.
