If you have zero working keys, that onboard sequence won't work. The vehicle security system needs at least one previously registered key to run the add-a-key procedure. With no working keys in the system, you need a programmer connected to the OBD port to do a full reset and register the new key from scratch.

Also worth knowing: a key bought online still has to be cut to your specific vehicle. An uncut blank that isn't trimmed to your lock won't turn the cylinder, programmed chip or not.
