A guy near Moonlight Beach in Encinitas called me after buying a used 2018 Traverse from a small independent lot. One key. The lot told him to just get a spare made wherever. He tried a couple of hardware stores first. They took one look at the fob and sent him away.

Cut the emergency blade to match the vehicle, tested passive entry on both front doors, tested the start, ran through all five buttons.
He now had two working keys. If he ever loses one going forward, that's an add-a-key job. If he'd lost both before calling me, it would have been a longer, more involved process. That second key isn't just convenience. It's insurance against a much worse day.
He didn't say much. Just asked if the fob would work the same as the first one. It did. He drove off with the windows down toward the 101.
