I got a call from a woman who was already home but completely locked out of her situation in a different way: she had her 2020 Traverse, she had the physical fob in her hand, but the vehicle was not responding to it at all. Somewhere in the process of the battery swap, something had cleared, or the fob had already been on its way out and the battery swap was just the last straw. Either way, the fix was the same.
I programmed a new fob to her vehicle on site, right there in the driveway. Cut the emergency blade to match, verified all five buttons, walked the door handles, and ran a test start. Took about 35 minutes total. She watched the whole thing from her front step with a coffee.
She mentioned the dealer was three towns over and required an appointment. Getting to that comparison felt almost beside the point by then. The job was done.
