1999 Dodge Grand Caravan
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How fast can you get to my location in Fairbanks Ranch?

Call us and we'll give you a straight arrival window based on where we are that day. Mobile locksmith service in Rancho Santa Fe means we come to your driveway, your gate, wherever the van is sitting. No tow, no drop-off, no waiting for a service lane to open up.

Q: Can I get a replacement remote made today?

In most cases, yes. I carry remotes and the equipment to pair them for Dodge vehicles in my service van. If I have the right remote in stock and the schedule works, same-day service is the normal outcome, not the exception. You call, I come to you in Fairbanks Ranch, and the remote gets paired and tested before I leave. No appointment window that's three days out, no drop-off, no waiting room.

Q: My 1999 Grand Caravan battery died and now my remote won't work at all. Did the remote break?

Almost certainly not. This is one of the most common calls I get on late-90s Chrysler minivans. When the vehicle battery goes dead or gets swapped out, these remotes lose their pairing to the receiver. The fob itself is usually perfectly fine. The van just stopped recognizing it. On a 1999 Grand Caravan, there's an onboard re-pairing sequence that doesn't require a diagnostic tool. Once you go through the steps correctly, the receiver re-learns the remote and everything works again.

Q: I bought a replacement remote online for my 1999 Grand Caravan. Can I pair it myself, or do I need someone to program it?

On a 1999 Grand Caravan, the onboard pairing procedure is owner-accessible if you follow the steps carefully. It's an ignition-based sequence, and when it works, it pairs all remotes in one session, so if you have a spare you want to add at the same time, do it then.

1999 Dodge Grand Caravan Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from someone in the Fairbanks Ranch area of Rancho Santa Fe on a weekday afternoon. She had a 1999 Grand Caravan and her keyless remote had stopped responding completely. Not weak range, not one button acting up. Nothing. She was standing in her driveway and the van just ignored every button she pressed.

She mentioned the van battery had been replaced about a week earlier. That detail told me most of what I needed to know before I even pulled up.

When the vehicle battery gets disconnected or replaced on these late-90s Chrysler minivans, the remote loses its link to the receiver module. The van basically forgets it. The fob itself was probably fine all along.

I walked her through the re-pairing sequence on site. On a 1999 Grand Caravan, you can sync the remote through an onboard procedure without any diagnostic tools at all. A few steps with the ignition and the fob buttons, and the van was responding again. Lock, unlock, all three buttons confirmed.

She had assumed the remote was dead and was already thinking about calling the dealer. The dealer would have had her drop the van off, wait for an appointment slot, and pay for time she didn't need to spend. The whole thing on my end took less than twenty minutes, most of which was me driving to her.

She kept the original remote. It was fine. Sometimes the job is just knowing what actually happened.

Dodge Grand Caravan Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan key and remote replacement take?▼

For a remote-only replacement on a 1999 Grand Caravan, usually well under 30 minutes once I'm at the vehicle. These late-90s Chrysler remotes can often be paired through an onboard procedure, which means no long tool hookup and no waiting on a security countdown. If you also need the ignition key cut, add a few minutes for decoding or cutting from your key code. All-keys-lost scenarios take a bit longer, but even those are typically wrapped in a single visit.
