I got a call from a woman near the Spring Valley Border side of Lemon Grove on a Tuesday evening. She had a 2016 Grand Caravan and had been using the vehicle's door handle to manually lock up because her fob had gotten unreliable. Swapped in a fresh CR2032, straightened the contact, cleaned the board with a dry swab, and closed it back up. Then I walked every button. Both sliding doors, the liftgate, lock, unlock, all of it. Everything responded.
She did not need a new fob, and she did not need a dealer appointment. The whole thing took under twenty minutes. She mentioned the dealer quote she had gotten the last time she needed a key for a previous car, and her voice had that tired quality people get when they feel like every vehicle problem automatically means a big number.
