2009 Infiniti Fx35 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Sunday morning out in San Diego Country Estates, the kind of quiet where you can hear the birds between the hills. A yoga studio owner in Ramona had just finished teaching her first class of the day and walked out to her 2009 Infiniti FX35 to find nothing. No door response, no reaction from the start button, no sign the car knew the fob existed.
The Infiniti dealer was closed until Monday. Her next class was two hours out.
The only number that answered on a Sunday morning was mine.
I pulled into the lot about 40 minutes later. She handed me the fob and I could tell just by the weight of the conversation that she'd already tried clicking it a hundred times in the parking lot. First thing I did was pop the battery. Dead CR2032, and not a recent death either. But a fresh battery alone wasn't going to finish the job, because the key needed to be reprogrammed to the vehicle's system at that point.
I connected through the OBD port, pulled up the Intelligent Key module, and registered the replacement fob to the car. Cut the emergency insert blade so she'd have a mechanical backup. Then the part I don't skip: walking every function. Lock from outside, unlock from outside, start, and then range testing from across the lot to confirm the signal was clean in every direction.
She was back on the road with time to spare before her second class. The dealer would have been closed until Monday at minimum, then parts on order after that. She saved a good chunk and didn't lose a day.
