I was already wrapping a job near the Mesa College area when the call came in. A parking garage in the Kearny Mesa corridor, a 2012 Infiniti FX35, and a locked car with an infant strapped in the back seat. The mom had stepped away for maybe thirty seconds to return a cart. The CR2032 read fine on my tester. This wasn't a battery. I opened the fob and the circuit board had a visible failure point near the transmitter side. The fob had been physically starting and stopping the car for years, and that board was done.

There's no partial salvage the way you sometimes get on older bladed systems. I built a new fob from verified stock, programmed it through the OBD port with my equipment, and cut the emergency blade to match her ignition. The whole pairing process on the FX35 takes a few minutes once you're in, and the car accepted the new fob cleanly on the first write.
I walked every function before I put my tools away. Door lock, unlock, remote start of the search-for-the-car variety, the emergency blade in the door cylinder. Everything worked.
The baby slept through the whole thing in the stroller. She drove home that evening. Some calls just stay with you, and that was one of them.
