2004 Infiniti M45
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2004 Infiniti M45 Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in the Brown Field Area of Otay Mesa, I got a call from a guy who had been given bad information by two different people before he found me.

He had a 2004 Infiniti M45, zero keys. Someone at a shop told him the car needed a new ignition module. A tow truck driver told him he had to go to the dealer. He had already burned most of an afternoon on the phone getting dealer quotes and hearing about how complicated the job was going to be.

When I got there, the car was sitting in a lot off the main stretch near Brown Field. He met me at the car looking like he had already accepted the worst-case scenario.

I told him what the M45 of this generation actually is: a turn-key car. I decoded the lock, cut a key to match, and had him turning the ignition inside of thirty minutes. No module work. No programming. No tow to a dealership.

He stared at the key in the ignition for a second like he was waiting for a catch. There was none.

The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait for an appointment, and a bill that was nowhere close to what he paid me. I don't say that to make the dealer look bad. I say it because this is a common vehicle where the job is genuinely simple if you know what you are dealing with, and a lot of owners get pointed in the wrong direction before they find someone who actually knows the car.
