2009 Infiniti M45
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2009 Infiniti M45 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a Tuesday morning, already warm, in a condo parking structure off La Mesa Village. The guy called me about adding a spare key to his 2009 M45. He had one working fob and wasn't willing to gamble on losing it with nothing as a backup.

He'd called the Infiniti dealer first. They told him the key had to be ordered by VIN, then he'd need to bring the car in once it arrived. The service advisor gave him a window of a few days just for the part, then another appointment on top of that for the programming. He works from home, back-to-back calls most mornings, and the idea of blocking half a day to sit at a service department wasn't something he was willing to do.

I met him in the structure before his first meeting. The M45 was parked in his assigned spot, engine off, one fob on the seat.

I cut a replacement key blade to match his door lock right there at the car, then handled the Intelligent Key programming through the OBD port. The whole thing took about 25 minutes. He had two working fobs before his calendar showed the first meeting of the day.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted. But honestly, what he cared about more was that he never had to leave the building.
