2015 Infiniti Q60
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Infiniti Q60 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A small airport shuttle operation runs out of a lot off the Fire Mountain side of Oceanside. The owner had three Q60 sedans in his fleet and drivers were swapping fobs between cars every shift. Every morning someone had the wrong key, or thought they did, and he was burning twenty minutes sorting it out before the first pickup of the day.

He called his dealer about getting dedicated spares cut and enrolled for each car. The dealer quoted him individually on each vehicle and wanted every car brought in on separate days. Three mornings, three trips, three gaps in his schedule during the hours he needed those cars running. He did the math and called me instead.

I got to his lot early, before the first run of the day. The Q60 uses an emergency key format, so each job meant extracting the dealer part number from the fob body, sourcing the right blade profile, cutting it to fit, and then enrolling the new key to the car through the OBD port using the correct PIN sequence for Infiniti's security protocol on this generation.

I worked through all three cars back to back. Each key got programmed individually so there was no cross-pairing between vehicles. I tested the blade in the door cylinder, tested ignition start, tested all the remote functions on each fob.

Done before his first driver left the lot. He labeled each fob with a VIN sticker, put one set per car, and the morning sorting problem went away. The dealer route would have cost him more than money. It would have cost him three mornings of missed runs. That comparison came up once, briefly, and then we moved on.
