2016 Infiniti Q60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in the Bay Marina area of National City, I got a call from someone who had just walked out of a meeting to a Q60 that wouldn't respond to anything. Not a weak battery situation.

The fob was fully unresponsive. No lock, no unlock, the push-button start wasn't seeing it at all. She'd tried holding it close to the start button the way people do when they already suspect the battery, and nothing happened.

I asked her to try the mechanical key blade inside the fob on the door lock. That got her in the car, which told me the fob itself was the failure, not the vehicle's receiver. She was already running late and just needed this resolved.

I was there in under 30 minutes. I connected my diagnostic tool to the OBD port, pulled up the Infiniti intelligent key module, and ran the security access sequence. While the system was processing, I got the new fob prepped and the emergency blade cut to her vehicle. The 2016 Q60 is a 4-button setup, and the replacement matched the factory configuration exactly.

Once access cleared, I enrolled the new key. Then I walked every function: proximity unlock on both doors, lock, trunk release, and start. Everything responded the way it should. I also tested the mechanical blade insert in the door cylinder so she'd know that backup worked too, because that's the thing you never think about until you need it.

She drove out of that lot without calling anyone else. The dealer comparison came up briefly -- she'd looked into it before calling me and was told the wait would stretch across multiple days. That timeline didn't fit. This one did.
