2007 Infiniti Qx56
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Infiniti Qx56 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

There is a restaurant near Eden Gardens, and the owner parks his 2007 QX56 out front every morning. He had been fighting the ignition for a few weeks. Not locked out, just stuck in that annoying middle ground where you wiggle the key, wait, try again, and eventually it turns. His valet staff had developed their own ritual around it.

He had already been to the dealer. They told him the lock cylinder was worn and quoted him a full replacement, new cylinder, new key, programming, the whole package. He was a week away from scheduling it.

His valet flagged me down when I was finishing another call nearby. I looked at the ignition and the problem was worn internal wafers, not a dead cylinder. The cylinder itself was fine. I decoded the lock, replaced the worn wafers, and cut a fresh remote-head key matched to the repaired cylinder. After that, I paired the new key through the OBD port so the remote buttons worked. I laid the old wafers out on the hood so he could see exactly what had failed. He had a feel for it immediately.

The dealer quote was for parts and work he did not need. His ignition turns smooth now and the remote works clean. He kept asking if there was anything else to do. There was not.
