She was renting out her place near Harbison Canyon in Alpine and using the QX56 to haul guests around. The fob shell had cracked along the seam, probably from being dropped a few too many times on a tile floor. The buttons were still clicking but catching on the split edge, and one side of the housing had started to bow out slightly.

I swapped the internals into a new housing, reseated everything, and verified the fit on the emergency blade so it would deploy and retract cleanly. Then I walked every button, checked the range from a real distance, and confirmed the door handles were responding the way they should.
The dealer had quoted a full fob replacement. What she actually needed was a shell swap and ten minutes of checking the work. She saved a good chunk, and the fob she left with was the same one she'd already been using, just in a housing that wasn't falling apart.
