2014 Infiniti QX60
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How does mobile key replacement actually work for a 2014 Infiniti QX60?

When you call, give me your year, make, model, and VIN. I confirm the right fob and blade for your specific vehicle and give you a price before I show up. No surprises. On site, I pull the VIN from the dash or door jamb to verify everything matches, then access the vehicle's key registration through the OBD port using equipment built for this platform.

Q: What do I need to have ready when you arrive?

Three things: the vehicle, a valid photo ID, and proof of ownership, either your registration or title. I verify ownership on site before any key work begins. That's not a formality, it's required, and any legitimate locksmith or dealer will tell you the same thing. I pull the VIN from the dash plate or door jamb to confirm the correct key specs for your exact QX60. The whole verification process takes a few minutes and we're into the job.

Q: I lost all keys to my 2014 QX60. Can a new smart key still be made without any working fob?

Yes, and this is a standard job. All-keys-lost on the 2014 QX60 takes longer than a spare add because the process involves clearing the existing key memory before registering new ones. The vehicle's key registration system gets reset through the diagnostic port, the new fob gets enrolled, and the blade gets cut. Any lost fobs are erased in the process, so they can no longer start the vehicle.

Q: My QX60 keeps showing a key warning even with a fresh battery in the fob. What's going on?

This is one of the more common complaints on this generation of QX60. Intermittent key detection warnings, even after a battery swap, are frequently traced back to RF interference rather than a fob or system failure. USB chargers plugged into the center console are a known culprit. Aftermarket accessories wired into the vehicle, certain phone cases, and even where you're holding the fob relative to the vehicle can all affect how reliably the system reads the key signal.

2014 Infiniti QX60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a resident in The Bridges, out in Rancho Santa Fe, on a Tuesday morning. He had a 2014 Infiniti QX60 and one fob.

Not zero keys, not a lockout, just a guy who'd been meaning to get a spare for two years and finally decided the risk wasn't worth carrying anymore. He'd called the Infiniti dealer the week before to ask about a second key. They told him to schedule a drop-off appointment and plan for a few hours.

He worked from home. His schedule that week was wall-to-wall video calls. He didn't have a few hours, and he wasn't interested in sitting in a service waiting room.

I met him in his driveway before his first call of the day. His QX60 was right there. I confirmed the key specs off the VIN, had the correct fob shell and blade blank with me, cut the replacement key to match his vehicle, and programmed the new fob through the OBD port. The whole job was done in about 25 to 30 minutes. He tested the door handles, the start button, the lock and unlock functions, all of it working before I closed my case.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, never moved the car, and was on his first call before 9 AM.

Getting a spare when you still have a working key is always the easier, faster, cheaper job. The call I dread taking is the one where it's the last fob and the car won't start.

Infiniti QX60 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do I need to bring my 2014 Infiniti QX60 somewhere for a key replacement?▼

No. I come to you. Whether you're at home in The Bridges, parked somewhere in Rancho Santa Fe, or sitting in a lot, I bring everything the job needs: the correct fob, the blade blank, cutting equipment, and the programming tools that work with the Nissan-Infiniti key system used on the 2014 QX60. The whole job happens at your vehicle. Dealer service requires you to either drive in or have the car transported to their bay.
